From brain surgery to Berlin Pride

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Aaron.

We all hope to have as much time in this life, to find as much joy as we can in the time that is allowed.

I'm reaching out for my twin brother, who was diagnosed with brain cancer this year. Many of the wonderful people in my life will have heard me talk about Jason at one time or another; about how special he is, how selfless he is - he would give you the shoes off his feet in a burning desert, he would (and has done) buy you a drink with his last dollar...

Sadly, this year, just before our 39th birthday, he was violently assaulted in the streets of Grafton. A scan of his head was necessary to check for brain damage, and our hearts were broken for the first time when they revealed a significant cancer in his frontal lobe, which had secretly been growing for years.

One GIANT surgery later and we got some results - the cancer is terminal.

Our hearts broken for a second time this year, and just before Xmas.

Jason has never asked for much, even when he was told he couldn't work or even drive for six months after surgery, he just keeps going. We aren't a family who has ever had money to spare, but we have each other, and the communities we build around us.

As a twin, faced with the prospect of my other half being stolen from me, I struggle to align this fate with what is fair and just.

Our family are working hard to cover Jason's day-to-day needs, medical costs and keep a roof over his head, but I desperately want to offer him something wonderful to look forward to, something he wouldn't think he even deserves.

I made plans myself to spend our 40th in Berlin for Pride in July 2024. Jason never got to celebrate his 30th birthday and I would very much like to take him with me. I want him to celebrate what might be his last milestone birthday in the biggest and best way possible. I wish I could afford it by myself.

I hope to raise $2000 to cover his flights, but he will also need money for accommodation and travel. $4000 would mean Jason could have an actual holiday. HE'S NEVER BEEN OVERSEAS.

If you can spare $20, $50, even $100 if you can afford it in these difficult times, it would go such a long way to turning this nightmare into a dream.

None of us know how long we've got, but the life we have, the time we share, is so precious.

It would mean the world to me.

Thank you in advance.

Love always,
Aaron ️‍ ️‍
