Jason Galle’s Surgery, Recovery, & Medical Bills
This is from Mariah Galle, Jason’s wife…Jason has been struggling with his health for years now, but at just 26 years old, none of us could figure out what was wrong. He had also been hospitalized in December of 2018, with many of the same medical issues. At that time, the doctors thought he was having seizures, so of course that’s the diagnosis we believed. Over the past eight months, he has been struggling with horrible migraines , and no medication was helping. About 2 weeks ago, he woke up in the middle of the night with an intense headache and couldn’t stop throwing up. My mom (Terri Parker Pleas) and I took him to the ER where they did a CT scan. Turns out, Jason has had a brain tumor for a long time. It was a 4.7 cm mass called an acoustic neuroma, or a vestibular schwannoma. It was causing spinal fluid to build up which was compressing his brain stem. Where the tumor was located, the surgical removal had to go through the ear. Sadly, they were not able to save his cochlear nerve, so he is now deaf in his left ear. However, they were able to remove 99% of the tumor, and will continue to monitor its growth, as he may need radiation in the future. With the majority of the tumor being removed, the spinal fluid is still there, and has to move through his body on its own. If it hasn’t by the time he is supposed to get his sutures out, the doctors will have to drain it themselves. Jason has already been out of work for 2 weeks and will be out for several more. He is the sole provider for our family, and this has been terribly hard on all of us, especially our 3-year-old son, Dawson.
Final message, from Pam Pool Parrott, Terri’s cousin, If it is in your heart and your means to give, please do so, as this young family is facing a huge stack of medical bills, time away from work, possible additional surgeries, and more.
Thank you in advance!!
