For anyone who has met Jason, you know he is an incredibly positive and kind person with an amazing outlook on life. On July 7th, while on vacation in Mexico with his girlfriend Kristi, the unexpected happened. Jason began experiencing seizures that wouldn’t stop and was rushed to the hospital, where he was placed in an induced coma. With no prior history of seizures, this came as a shock. On July 10th, he was airlifted from Cancun to Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, still in a coma. The seizures caused rhabdo, leading to kidney failure, and he had to start dialysis. After 11 days, Jason woke up from the coma and spent another week in the hospital. He was able to return home on July 28th but continued dialysis and physical therapy. On August 13th, an MRI revealed two brain tumors. Shortly after, he underwent a biopsy and removal of a 1cm tumor. On August 27th, the results confirmed stage 4 Glioblastoma. Despite this devastating news, Jason has remained positive and determined to fight this cancer! On September 5th, he underwent another surgery to remove 90% of the tumors in his right temporal lobe. Post-surgery, Jason quickly returned to his regular activities, enjoying hiking and living life to the fullest. However, on September 16th, he suffered yet another seizure, which caused him to fall and sustain a head injury resulting in a brain bleed. This required him to undergo another brain surgery. He is currently back in the hospital, continuing to fight his way toward recovery. New studies and potential treatments are available to combat this disease, but the expenses are steep and not covered by insurance. The growing medical bills are daunting, and we want to ensure Jason and his family can concentrate on his recovery without the burden of financial stress. We are calling on Jason’s family, friends, and community to rally together, offering love, prayers, and support to help ease their financial burden during this challenging time.
