Jason Dearing, known as everyone's best friend amongst his friends, had a massive stroke on January 12th. For those that know Jason, you know that he would do anything for his friends or family and even strangers in need.
On January 12th after waking up from a nap he called out for his brother in law for help. He was having numbness on his left side and his speach was slurred. He was brought to the hospital and immediately taken back to the ER. From there they determined the severity of the right side brain stroke.
During his time at the first hospital he was able to give thumbs up and nod his head a bit. The hospital then transferred him to Western Medical Center known for its head trauma center. Once there, he was not as responsive. As his wife Raquel held his hand, the nurses asked him questions and he was able to nod a little bit when they asked him if he knew what was happening. When they said they needed to take him back for more testing he would not let go of Raquels hand which was very emotional for her. They took him back for testing and when he returned to his room hours later he was no longer responding to anyone. At this time they had to drill a hole in his head to help reduce the swelling and pressure. Since then it has been day to day.
As of today, January 20, 2019 (Jason's birthday) he is still in an induced coma. His swelling and pressure has not changed but his fever has broke. The Neurosurgeon is telling his wife that he is hoping that the swelling and pressure will heal on it's own, if not they will have to go in and relieve the swelling and pressure. He states that this will be the last resort since he does not want to interfere with "good parts of the brain".
I am starting this GoFundMe to help raise money for his family. The timing of this event happened during a work transition so they do not have insurance coverage. Raquel started a new job on the 7th of January and switched from Kaiser and she has been trying to get emergency Medi Care. Your donations will help the Dearings with their monthly bills during this tragic time. Raquel's new employer has been very understanding during this difficult time and has told her to take as much time off as needed, unfortunately she does not get paid for this time off.
They are a family of 4 with a 14 year old daughter and a 12 year old nephew from Jason's sister that they raise as their own and calls Jason and Raquel mom and dad.

He was laughing during the happy birthday song because Maleah was holding a birthday card very close to the flames of her birthday cake and anyone that knows Jason will know that rather than "adulting" and taking the card away so it did not catch fire, he laughed about how close it was as I was yelling to Maleah to move it away so it did not catch on fire. Always good times brother!!!
