I am raising money for my cousin Jason Beckman, his wife Darcy Buechler and their daughter Ryleigh.

In March of 2015, Jason survived an Aortic Dissection, or a tear in the major vessel of his heart. During surgery, he suffered a stroke. He worked hard during his recovery, to be known as a Stroke Survivor and not a victim. He strived to be the best Dad he could to his newborn daughter.

Six years later, he was not feeling well. He went to the ER on August 27, 2021 and was admitted. Since then, he has had the following happen:

--Septic from a bacterial infection in his mesh graft for the dissection repair

--Open heart surgery (eleven hours) to replace mesh graft

--Pacemaker installed

--Coded (stopped breathing) and endured chest compressions on new surgical site

--Open heart surgery to remove blood clots from around his heart

--Deep vein thrombosis (blood clots) in left arm

--Fever of 103.8, another infection while currently ON antibiotics

--Infected abscess at bottom of rib cage

--Open heart surgery to repair ruptured pseudoaneurysm

--Had another stroke

--Replaced all blood in his body because couldn't stop the bleeding

--Fungal infection discovered in his heart tissue

--tracheostomy

--Family Dog passed away

--Diagnosed with expressive aphasia

--Continuing on a respirator

--45+ days in the ICU

--113 days since this all started, almost 4 months

Jason is still in the hospital. Darcy, who is a registered nurse, has been by his side every step of this horrible journey. She has been on an extended leave of absence from her job. She started with 500 hours of sick time. She has not been paid for over a month.

Coming home will not be the end of the journey for Jason. It will be a very long and rocky road he will have to travel. Darcy will need time off to take him to his therapy and doctor's appointments. Adding the threat of Covid will just make things even more difficult.

This is a wonderful family that has been dealt a terrible hand. I want to raise funds to help pay the mortgage, utilities, food and immediate needs of Darcy and Ryleigh. I want to help with the co-pays for Jason's therapies. I want to help with their enormous medical expenses as much as possible. Jason and Darcy have had some very bad breaks and would deeply appreciate any help you can give them.
