September 7, 2023 Update - request for more prayers and support.
Since our original post, Jackson has completed 29 radiation treatments in Atlanta, Georgia including 6 weeks of IV immunotherapy. He returned home the middle of May 2023. He had some setbacks that landed him in Levine’s Children’s Hospital for 10 days but has been recovering since, at home. Fast forward to June 2023 and he had a clear brain MRI…we were all so ecstatic!! God hears our prayers!!
Jackson started an oral chemotherapy treatment the beginning of July as well (to kill any remaining cancer cells). After several weeks of this, and several side effects later, a frontal headache began. Fast forward again to August 22, 2023 and another brain MRI. This time the results were somewhat devastating. It shows that there is ‘tumor progression’ meaning signs of possible tumor growth in the frontal portion of brain. Back to the oncologist to consider a new plan.
Jason and Jackie, along with Jackson and his medical team have been looking into other options, with other medical facilities. On September 6, 2023 Jackson was accepted into a immunotherapy trial including a different chemotherapy drug, in Augusta Georgia. They will have to travel there one day a week for the next two months.
So many people have already asked how they can help and this is how;
Pray - We serve and almighty God and believe his plan to be true and right and in his time!
❤️ Share - Share Jackson’s story. Pediatric Cancer is so underfunded and we need to change this!
Donate - If you are able and feel compelled to help Jason and Jackie with their travel expenses, please do so.
Again, The Family of Jackson Hall is so grateful for those who are with us on this journey. We thank you for all of your prayers and your support.
My name is Tonya and am Jackson Hall’s aunt (his moms sister). I have created this page to assist my sister and her husband with expenses related to the 2nd brain cancer treatment and care for their amazing 11 year old son, Jackson.
In 2016, at the age of 4, Jackson was diagnosed with brain cancer. He had two brain surgeries, a month of intense inpatient therapy, and 33 radiation treatments in Florida. He spent the last 6.5 years recovering and becoming an amazing, sports loving, faithful, God serving young man. His recovery has made a huge impact on our family and he has become a local hero.
Fast forward to Sept 2022 when a routine brain scan (he went annually at this time) would show a new ‘area to watch’. Jackson had no symptoms so the only plan was to rescan in 6 months. Unfortunately in late January 2023 he became symptomatic with headaches, vomiting and unstable on his feet. New imaging would reveal that the ‘area to watch’ had multiplied several times and was concerning. After a few hospital visits, new imaging and a biopsy it was determined that he indeed had another malignant brain tumor.
On March 6th, 2023, Jackson had brain surgery to remove most of the tumor. He has been diagnosed with a radiation induced glioma, a more aggressive brain cancer than the first time. Although devastating news, Jason and Jackie have accepted this and have spent many hours researching and discussing options for
further treatment (radiation therapy to start). By the grace of God, they have been referred to Emory Medical Center, in Atlanta. The hope is Jackson will be seen next week for imaging and radiation planning and treatment. This treatment will likely last 6-7 weeks, like in 2016.
Obviously being away from work for many weeks, housing in Atlanta, medical bills, and keeping up with their NC living expenses, will be extremely costly. Jason and Jackie, and of course Jackson, are LOVED and SUPPORTED by so many people. Lots of friends and family have reached out as to how to help. Until treatment was confirmed it was hard to know when and what of support they would need. Now we know.
As for Jackson, he is recovering from brain surgery very well, but still has frequent headaches, nausea and unsteadiness. This has kept him from doing what he LOVES, baseball. He needs treatment as soon as possible and his parents and many medical professionals are doing their best to make it happen.
Thank you in advance for all of your prayers and your support. We know we serve an almighty God and we give all the praise and glory to him. Jackson has a profound impact on everyone he meets and he is a living testament to what God is capable of.
