My name is Jasmine Stith and this is my story. My humble beginnings are in Pine Bluff Arkansas where I overcame obstacles to be a young woman seeking an engineering career. I moved to the great state of Texas and found a love for engineering where I worked last summer as an early identification intern for General Electric in Houston.
I am a college student attending a HBCU (historically black college) in order to obtain my Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. My ultimate goal is to utilize my skills and determination in the world of business which is why I need your help to fund my internship housing expenses at New York University (NYU).
The expenses for the housing at NYU are far beyond my reach to pay upfront but I believe this opportunity would extend beyond the "Return On Investment" once I capture the experience from this exciting internship with the number ONE financial company on Wall Street! Goldman Sachs internship gives me a unique opportunity to learn about the finance industry by working side by side with the experts and it will give back two fold in benefits to the industry in my field of study. I’ve learned by getting involved not by watching. I am the first student to receive this honor of an internship offered by Goldman Sachs from Prairie View A& M University. I plan to put my academic achievements to work this summer and make my university proud!
Housing was not something I thought was going to be a “show stopper” but when I received a letter today confirming my internship; it stated my cost of housing at NYU has to be paid up front within 15 days. That’s $4,000 that I don’t have! If you can assist with the partial portion of $2,500.00, I will get the balance from a zero interest credit card or from alternative financial sources. As a business solution alternative, I plan to do other fund raisers on campus to get support for this endeavor from my colleagues and friends.
