A week later, Jasmine is doing better mentally. Physically, her kidneys are almost entering failure. She has 5 specialists, who say they are excited to be working on her case. They are running labs through one of the best hospitals in the country, the Mayo Clinic. (which is also full so they can't take her, but they're helping the best they can.)
Right now, her family needs some emotional and monetary help for all of those that can give. Jasmine cannot be working, I (her sister and POA) have not been working, Jasmine's fiancé is working full time.
With five kids at home, (ages 13, 11, 9, 4, + 3) her Fiancé Mario cannot physically or emotionally keep working as much as he is. The worry for Jasmine (patient) and Mario (father) is that their kids won't have mommy home for Christmas for the first time. They want to try to make this the most normal Christmas they can for these kids. (no minors allowed in the hospital, as well)
A few weeks ago, their car was totaled by a person that was texting + driving. They owed more than it was worth, and now they are borrowing a friends car. Another side effect of COVID, they can't find a vehicle for the size of their family right now.
These funds raised will help them get a temporary vehicle that Jasmines Brother-In-Law has been working on to fix up, up and going.
The funds will help Christmas with the kids, without their mom around. (keeping them busy with activities, presents, food, etc.)
It will help us get 2 screens, one for Jazz and 1 for the house, so the children can see their mother via zoom, instead of a small phone screen. (plus Jasmines phone, you can barely see the screen.)
Due to the loss in income, their phone bill is behind. Verizon temporary turned it back on, but that won't last forever as it was a simply a nice gesture.
The funds will help Mario pay for rent, without having to stress about getting enough hours at work, taking care of his mental health, and all of the children's basic needs, and the mental support they currently need, as well.
These funds will help with transportation, as Jasmine is currently 1.5 hours from her family. Me (sister) drives here every day.
These funds will get a much needed family member (the kid's Auntie Shannon, and Jazz + Mandy's best friend) home from Arizona, to support Jasmine and her sister both.
Asking for help isn't something this family does. They are very uncomfortable with even the thought, but this is our first time asking, and it is something we hope will make it so its one major thing Jasmine doesn't need to worry about, so she can focus on getting healthy to get back home to her family. I can't even begin to tell you how grateful
This is a fatal condition. Because of our unknown family history (we grew up in the foster system) we do not know dire details about our family medical history. This could be HUS/TTP, this could be Lupus. At this time the doctors are working their hardest. Her kidneys as of 12/6 are at 17% function.
Please help with what you can. You may reach out to Mandy if you want to help, but don't have any funds to contribute. This has been a crazy year, the absolute worst time for something unexpected like this to happen. Even just sending good vibes, that has already shown to be helping.
We thank you for everything that has already manifested her in mentally getting better. Updates will now be on this page! Currently Mandy (the sister + one updating everyone) is SWAMPED with updating / making sure Jazz is ok/supported, making sure the same for Mario and the kids, organizing, working (just started a new job last week and already taking time off) - it's been wild guys.
A long road ahead but SHE CAN DO THIS.
