Jasmine's Healthy Heart

Jasmine's journey started in the Munson ER on Monday (12/29/14) where she was having chest pains and a very elevated heart rate. Tuesday morning they determined that a virus had attacked her heart and flew her down to Grand Rapids where they have more resources to help fight the infection. Once she arrived in GR, the doctors performed a biopsy and realized just how critical her condition was. We were told that her heart was so weak that blood and oxygen were not getting to her organs causing her heart and liver to go into shock. They quickly decided that she would need to be put on a life saving machine called an ECMO that would pump her heart for her and a breathing machine as well.  Test results came back showing irreversable damage, our next step was to sign her up for possible heart transplant.  The doctors told us that if we had waited one more hour she would not have made it.  The next day her numbers had improved, and the next day even more. Before we knew it the doctors were telling us if she continued to improve they were not going to put her on the donor list.  Now with her progress being so good she has the posibility of regaining total functionality of her own heart because her heart was repairing itself!! Jasmine is still on life support machines and under sedation but the doctors are very optomistic about her progress.

Although at this point we are not thinking she will be needing a heart transplant, she still has a very long road of recovery and will need a lot of observation and care. To allow us to focus soley on Jasmine's needs and getting her back to 100%, we have started this fund to help care for her and cover any medical bills she may have when all is said and done.  Any contribution will be appreciated more than words can say.
