Jasmine's life saving surgery
Donation protected
Jasmine is an 8 year old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix and she's been my pride and joy since puppyhood. Jasmine, true to German Shepherd form, has always had health issues. She's been diagnosed with pannus, allergies, had a ruptured/abscessed anal gland last month, amongst a gamut of other things.
On 5/30 she was unresponsive to my verbal commands and was staggering about. She seemed absolutely dazed and confused. I rushed her to her primary vet, they are very familiar with her, where they ran blood tests and 5 xrays. The veterinarian thought Jasmine may have a splenic tumor or cancer, and did an emergency transfer to the 24 hour emergency vet in our area. First they did an ultrasound and attached her to an IV because of her dehydration. After some pain medication they were able to do a fine needle extraction of some tissue from her spleen and examined it under a microscope. Although the samples collected all point to it being benign, the doctor wants to remove her spleen to quell all doubt.
I am basically left with 2 options; Do the surgery or consider putting her to sleep (euthanasia). I have paid everything so far, but the Vet estimates the splenectomy to be between $2000-$4000. I have nearly exhausted my funds, but can not find it in my heart to give up on my precious pet. Please consider donating any amount to help save Jasmine's life.
