As some of you may be aware, Jasmine is in the middle of an acrimonious custody and property dispute with her ex-husband.

Many of you have been a huge support to her during this difficult time and she is incredibly grateful for your assistance.

What you may not realise is the huge financial toll these events have taken on her.

Jasmine has been doing her best to self-represent to cut costs, but the situation has now deteriorated to the stage where she has had to retain a lawyer. If the matter proceeds to trial, Jasmine’s legal costs will be around $3000 per day, in addition to the other costs incurred preparing for court which will be in the thousands of dollars. Being able to afford representation not only increases Jasmine's chances of success, it also significantly reduces the workload and stress associated with representing herself.

As you can imagine, this is an incredibly traumatic time for Jasmine even without the additional burden of financial worries. Jasmine would never ask any of you for money, and she has not asked me, but it is the one practical thing we can do that will improve her chances of securing a stable future for her and her daughter.

I have shared this link privately as I do not want her ex to know we are fundraising. I am more than happy for people to share the link with other friends of Jasmine I am not connected with, however please be careful about who you share it with and who you discuss the fundraiser with. Please do not post anything on social media about this fundraiser.

Any amount you can afford will help and will only be used for legal expenses. (Please note that I am not professionally involved in Jasmine's case at all - I am not a Family Lawyer and I am currently non-practicing.)

Jasmine has been there for many of us when we needed her, now it's time for us to do likewise.

Dear Friends,

Five months ago I found myself very suddenly without a husband, without a home, with very few possessions, facing what has become a very bloody legal battle that will probably cost more than I can ever repay in my lifetime. I thought I was a strong person but everything I believed about myself has been put to the test. I am having to face an opponent that is unrelenting. I am having to harden myself in ways that feel unnatural.

I hope that, as my friends and loved ones you will know that this is not something that I would ever have even considered asking for myself. I consider myself generous and loyal and I wouldn’t hesitate to help others, but I would never have asked this for myself. Never. I am so grateful to Jessica for having the wisdom to know what I needed and to seek that help from you on my behalf.

‘Blown away’… ‘humbled’… all platitudes that somehow don’t describe how I felt when Jess showed me this fundraising effort and the progress already made! To those that have made donations I am utterly overwhelmed by your generosity, please know that you have my most heartfelt gratitude. So very many people have supported me already in so very many ways. I am so lucky to have you.

There has been very little time process what has happened, my life at the moment is just day after day, one foot in front of the other ‘keeping calm and carrying on’. However, I found myself yesterday, sitting in the sun and consciously feeling happy. I am not alone. I have an army.

I would be honoured to have an opportunity to repay your kindness in some way… and one day, I hope I will.
