Hello, my name is Jasmine Osman, and I am a senior at the DODEA Bahrain High School. Recently, my family has fallen on hard times, to the point where my parents are unable to finance my high school education. I have three siblings, one of whom is currently studying to be a doctor, spreading my parents' already minimal resources thin. The last year has been rough, therefore I am now resorting to outside sources for support. I am sixteen years old and have no savings or access to the workforce, so I would greatly appreciate if anyone is able to help.
I have a passion for theatre and performance art and hope to pursue theatre both at a scholarly level and professionally post-high school. I am currently applying to The City University of New York, and will be financing my education independently. As indicated by my chosen major and career path, I dedicate a lot of my time to the theatre program at Bahrain School and honing my skills. I have seven years of experience in theatre and the arts, performing in over twenty productions. I also love singing, and try to improve my technique independently as Bahrain School does not have a choral program. Literature and reading are important to me as well, with my favorite authors including Toni Morrison and Ntozake Shange. Besides my involvement within the theatre program as one of its senior members, I also have over three years of Model United Nations experience, as I am very interested in world affairs and politics. Additionally, I am active in Interact Club, a charity club that is sponsored by Rotary, as the President and have two years of student government experience within high school alone. Furthermore, I was inducted into the National Junior Honors Society in my freshman year and hope to join the National Honors Society next semester. I was also a Varsity Soccer Goalie last year, and hope to gain the position this season as well.
I am hopeful that I will still be able to continue going to school for the remainder of my senior year and graduate, reaching my lifelong goal of attending college. Thank you for helping and for helping me to achieve my goal.
