Dearest Friends & Family,
My name is Jasmine Pinson: I am a 45yr old momma of 2 amazing boys, Vijay (17) & Josiah (10) and married to my husband Victor.
My life changed dramatically when I was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis at 21 years old while going through my Teacher Credential program at SDSU. I suffered from a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in my lung), was leaking over 9 grams of protein from my kidneys, & ended up in the ICU for a week. This challenging time made me reflect on the years of abuse I had put my body through bulimia, stress, depression, & anxiety.
My journey to health started when I was encouraged to try my 1st yoga class. Yoga has been a gift from God that has helped me to regain my health, strengthen my mind, body & spirit.
I am grateful to God, my family & friends, a 12-step program for recovery from food addiction, my church & yoga communities for all love & encouragement I have received over the years.
I placed 2nd in the West Coast States Regionals in February & and at Nationals in Iowa this summer, I placed 5th in the Women’s Division. As a result of this accomplishment, I was given the invitation to participate in the International Yoga Sports Federation (IYSF) 2021-2022 World Championships to be held at the SVYASA Yoga & Naturopathic University in Bangalore, India (the birthplace of Yoga) on Dec 3-4, 2022!!!
I feel humbled, honored, & excited for this once in a lifetime opportunity to represent the USA and appreciate any support for the travel, training, & accommodation expenses of this trip.
I believe the practice of yoga helps to bring positive change in individual lives as well as change communities all around the world. My next ambition is to become a yoga teacher.
Love & Gratitude, Jasmine Pinson
