Background

My wife has had Jasmine since 2010 when Jasmine was just a puppy. In mid-2021, Jasmine was diagnosed with breast cancer. We could not afford traditional oncology treatments at that time, so we chose instead to have a lumpectomy done and an experimental homologous vaccine administered. We were told that the time to beat when it comes to this type of cancer was one-year post-surgery; roughly 75% of cases will come back within the first year. She got out of surgery on August 18, 2021.

Current Situation

The cancer is back, and while the vet had originally said she wouldn't do surgery again because of Jasmine's advanced age, this time the tumor is attached to a blood vessel, so every time she kicks it (which is quite often), it bleeds.

Cancer has spread to the nearby breast tissue, which means instead of a simple lumpectomy, this time she will need a full radical mastectomy. If the lab work shows that any of these tumors are malignant and/or spreading further than the ones the vet can visibly see from the outside, Jasmine will also need to work with an oncologist for radiation and chemotherapy.

Outside of cancer and the fact that she's getting older and slowing down, Jasmine is in great shape. She still plays, she still eats, she still has all her facilities. Last but not least, she's still my wife's best friend.
