Jarrell's Help for Heart - LVAD Open Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
We’re reaching out with an important and difficult update about Jarrell’s health. Last month, after feeling unwell, Jarrell was hospitalized again. After extensive testing, the doctors discovered that his heart function has dropped to a critical 13%. The severity of his heart failure means that, without immediate intervention, he may not survive beyond 6 months.
In order to give him the best chance at a longer, more fulfilling life, his medical team has recommended open-heart surgery to implant a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). This device will help his heart function more effectively, providing support until a potential heart transplant can be considered. The surgery is tentatively scheduled for January 2025, depending on how his health progresses. After the procedure, he will need to remain in the hospital for a few months as he recovers.
For those unfamiliar, heart failure is a condition that cannot be cured. Even when we hear encouraging news, like his heart is “getting better,” it only means his medication may be adjusted. Jarrell has been diagnosed with End-Stage Heart Failure, which is a permanent condition. However, with close medical care and ongoing treatment, his symptoms can be managed to help him live as comfortably as possible.
Given the emotional and financial burden of this journey, we’ve decided, at the recommendation of Jarrell’s medical team, to reopen his GoFundMe page. The funds raised will help with medical expenses, recovery costs, and any additional support Jarrell may need in the months ahead.
Your love, prayers, kind messages, and previous contributions have already been a tremendous source of strength for us, and we are beyond grateful for the outpouring of support. We humbly ask you to continue sharing this page with others, and if you're able, any contribution will make a meaningful difference.
Thank you from the depths of our hearts for your ongoing love and support during this incredibly challenging time.
With love and gratitude,
Jarrell & Yasmine
