Jarrell, Texas tornado
Donation protected
My aunt Lea Ann was devastated by the tornado that went thru Jarrell, Texas in the late afternoon Monday, March 21,2022. She is a 70 year old woman who recently retired from Texas Workforce Commission and is on Social Security. Her house was heavily damaged with structural damage to the roof and frame of the house. Her son and 15 year old granddaughter are currently living with her and luckily they made it to the tornado storm shelter in the nick of time. Her son has been recently laid off and now all 3 of them are displaced from their home. My 15 year old cousin is still going to high school every day to maintain her extremely high GPA even with her home being devastated with her belongings and school supplies still inside. Thank God that no one in this tornado was injured, there have been no reports of injury or death . My aunt's home has been on national TV (Weather Channel, Fox News, and several local channels). Her entire fence was demolished along with her Avalanche that rolled 3 times, a storage shed where so many memories/pictures, personal items, furniture, etc. were either damaged or missing. Her home was on the market to sell so she could down size to a smaller home. When she requested information from her insurance company she realized her homeowner insurance had not kept up with current market prices and had not been changed since 2003 when she moved into the home. Since then she has made numerous improvements on the house that were also not taken into account on the insurance coverage. My aunt is so thankful for the community of Jarrell and surrounding towns. People were coming to help clean up debris including local police, fire, churches, Austin Disaster Relief and a lot of ordinary everyday people full of love and compassion checking in to see if everyone was ok and letting them know they were available for any help needed. They brought water, cleaning supplies, storage containers for precious items, and more. Everything that has been done so far is greatly appreciated by everyone impacted by this tornado.
This GoFundMe account is to assist my aunt with the expenses incurred that will be over her insurance limits. I am asking that you can find it in your heart to help my aunt and cousins during this so stressful time in their lives; any monetary donations will help or maybe just keep her family and those affected by this tornado in your prayers.
