It’s never easy to ask for help, but we are reaching out on behalf of Jarred. As some of you may already know Jarred was in a tragic accident Saturday Aug 20th. Their little family went out for a pontoon ride that night, and decided to go for a quick swim. Unknowing of how shallow the area was Jarred suffered a spinal injury in which he lost feeling of his lower half. Beth and Claire worked together quickly to call 911 and were able to get the 3 of them back to shore. Jarred was then life flighted to Duluth where they did a scan and discovered one of his vertebrae had burst, causing damaging pressure to his spinal cord, and paralysis from his chest down. Sunday morning they started close to an 8 hour surgery to stabilize his spine, which thankfully was a success! We are all so thankful for the amazing medical team that performed the surgery. (All 30 of them!) After spending 16 days at St Luke’s hospital, Jarred has been transported to the rehabilitation center in the cities where they are working towards furthering his mobility and getting him back at home with his family. Jarred continues to make strides towards gaining more and more mobility back. It’s in these moments that life becomes more real and you realize just how something can change in an instant! We are all so proud of Jarred for the strength and courage he has had each and every day to get through this.
