Hi my name is Cathy Vargas. I am doing this gofundme on the behalf of my sister Maggie for her son, my nephew Jarel Bello. On September 27th, during hurricane Ian, we recieved a call that my nephew Jarel was involved in a horrific car accident, where he was t-boned by a pickup truck. He was taken unconscious to the Orlando Health trauma department (ICU). He suffered numerous injuries, some being fractured ribs, punctured lung, his leftside hip socket was completely shattered, broken pelvis, blunt cardiac injury, Prostatic hematoma, a hole in his heart that will require future evaluation and possible surgery, etc. He underwent emergency surgery to reconstruct his pelvis and hip socket. He recieved numerous blood transfusions and a chest tube as well. The doctor has even stated that in the future Jarel would need a hip replacement. Unfortunately my nephew was working at a new job which did not qualify him for health insurance right away when this occurred. Due to not having insurance it makes it difficult for him and my sister to pay for the physical therapy he needs. The goal for Jarel is to go to an inpatient/outpatient facility as it was recommended by hospital. Having the best physical therapy staff and doctors for him will dictate his recovery and ability to enjoy the most independent life possible. Although his recovery will be long, he is in good spirits and thankful to be alive. This fundraiser will help with physical therapy, home healthcare services and unforseen expenses to ensure he has the support due to him not being able to work. His future and quality of life depends on this phase. I am just trying to help my nephew get the services he needs due to his current situation which puts him in dire need of any and all assistance.
