Help Jared Faddis fight cancer!

For those of you not already aware, our brother Jared, and his family, are facing all of the emotion and strain that cancer introduces to the lives of those it touches.

In July of 2017, unrelated to his current diagnosis, Jared had his appendix removed. Like so many of us, he and Angie decided that since they had met their annual insurance deductible, that he should maximize medical benefits before the end of the year. He decided to go visit an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) specialist about his tonsils, which had been bothering him for quite some time. Unfortunately, they found a mass on his thyroid.  His tonsils were then removed right before Christmas of 2017, and a needle biopsy showed atypical cells on the mass on his thyroid. Questioning whether that meant cancer or not, Jared went in for surgery to remove the mass in February 2018. The doctors found a mass about the size of a golf ball and decided on the spot it was aggressive enough that they performed a complete thyroidectomy.

The diagnosis was papillary carcinoma. Papillary cancers tend to grow very slowly and usually develop in only one lobe of the thyroid gland. Even though they grow slowly, papillary cancers often spread to the lymph nodes in the neck. Still, these cancers that have spread to the lymph nodes can often be treated successfully.

Jared and Angie were told that radiation was the next step. But, after an ultrasounds and CT scan it was identified that the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes and even a spot on his lung. They are now undergoing the next step: a very invasive surgery to remove the lymph nodes, and waiting another thirty days to see if required levels are low enough to start radiation. Four surgeries, numerous doctor visits, lots of tests and scans later...the strain on Jared and his family is both emotionally and financially real.

Please consider helping them by relieving some of the financial stress. We love you Jared, Angie, Daxton, Maliya, Drew and Quincy!
