Hello Family and Friends!
So, originally, Jared and I were planning to have our wedding this fall (October 2020) and invite all of you to celebrate with us. Due to COVID, we halted all our planning and figured we would wait it out. Since we don't know when things will be safe enough for people to travel and gather, we made the difficult decision to have a civil ceremony at the local courthouse on September 17th, 2020, the anniversary of when we got engaged.
Even though we will be legally hitched, it is very important to both of us that we have a ceremony and reception with all our friends and family as soon as it is safe to do so.
We have talked about this for some time and came to the conclusion that we would much rather use any money that would have been spent on gifts towards putting together a gathering for our friends and family. <3
And so, we are requesting that in lieu of gifts, those who want to give us something instead donate to this GoFundMe, which will go towards our future wedding celebration. By no means are we asking for or expecting gifts from anyone. We set this up purely for those who want to give us a wedding gift.
The venue we were looking into pre-COVID is a very affordable (approx) $1,000. It's not our dream spot, but it's still lovely. We have found a few others that are in beautiful wooded California parks, but they are closer to $3,000-$5,000.
We were leaning towards going with the more affordable option and then using any additional funds to rent a big and beautiful house in Lake Tahoe so that friends and family that fly out could come to stay with us for a long weekend. This would be our ideal plan as we would love to have more time with you all.
The final plan will be determined by how much we are able to save as well as any gifts we receive. We hope to make this a special occasion for everyone who attends and make memories that we can cherish for much longer than a toaster or some fancy silverware. ;-) We want it to be about everyone having a fantastic time, and not just be about us.
We love you all so much, miss you more than ever, and can't wait until we can get together again.
Love,
Britt and Jared
