On December 5, our son-in-law, Jared Tapia, suffered a massive stroke. After an appoximate 4 hour wait on weather, he was flown to Anchorage. Jared has been in ICU for a week. They have had a difficult time getting his blood pressure to stay down so he has been sedated most of the time. He is paralyzed on his left side. He can talk when not sedated.

Yesterday his blood pressure came down and Maggie took him his headphones so he is able listen to his music. Still on pain meds for headaches. Jared has been moved from ICU to Neurology. Now hope his blood pressure remains down and Anthony will be able to be with him. He is too young to go into ICU so has not seen his dad since this happened. Brooke and Crystle have visited him and Maggie is there daily.

The doctors have said it’s going to be a long road ahead. He is having occupational therapy 5-6 days/week. He will be moved to Providence St. Elias Specialty Hospital for several months of recovery.

Please pray for Jared’s body to recover and for strength for Maggie, Brooke, Crystle and Anthony.

Jared is only 46 years old.
