I am starting this fundraising campaign for our friend Jared Popp. He is the son of old friends from our church family at The Vine in Cumming. We have watched this young man grow up and have been so proud to see him head out on a path to a career in massage therapy.      

     About six years agoJared began having bizarre symptoms: he had severe headaches, vision problems, and motor issues — all very concerning. After months of tests the doctors found a benign tumor at the base of Jared’s brain. He underwent surgery, with great results: Jared felt better; his symptoms were gone; his recovery was fairly quick.

      Unfortunately, the brain tumor came back this year and a second  surgery in late summer 2020 has not yet given the same results. Recovery has been slower. Jared is in a fight for his independence, with his eyesight, speech, motor skills, balance and strength seriously challenged. He’s been making gains in many areas, but he is still having serious vision issues. It is currently necessary for him to focus solely on his recovery.

     To make matters worse,Jared is now without healthcare insurance and the bills have been daunting.

     In deference to Jared’s wishes, I am setting the goal for this fundraiser at $5000 but I am hoping that somehow more can be done for him, because I know the financial impact on him has been severe: he has been out of work and without insurance for several months of recovery and therapy.
