4 Year Old Jared Miller Cancer Battle Fundraiser

Jared Miller is the 4 year old son of Marion and Leah Miller. They are an Amish family from Leslie, Michigan. He is the second youngest of 7 children. Jared was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (malignant/cancerous tumor at base of brain) in February, 2020. He has received extensive treatment over the past few months including a 3 week stay at Devos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, followed by 2 months (no visits back home!) at St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. He has had multiple surgeries, extensive radiation, and was scheduled to begin chemotherapy next week at DeVos. However, upon testing prior to beginning chemo, cancer cells were discovered in his bone marrow. Doctors have advised that there is no viable treatment for his condition at this point, and they have given him just weeks to live. This is devastating news for this family, as well as their community.
A bit of background info about the Millers - Marion and Leah moved their family to Leslie from Fremont, MI in late December 2019. They were still in the process of building their home when Jared became very ill and required almost constant hospitalization beginning in February and lasting until mid May. With the help of the Amish community, their home was finished, and they are able to live there comfortably now. Many friends and family assisted with caring for the Miller's other 6 children, their livestock, and the other details of life that need attending to, during the time they were at the hospital. They are very grateful for this support and assistance!
The past few months have been incredibly difficult for Jared and all members of his family - emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially. The largest financial impact has primarily been due to Marion being unable to work to provide income for the family, while he has been away at the hospital with Jared and Leah. He owns and operates Miller Roofing, and he had just begun getting his business established in this area prior to Jared becoming ill. As you can imagine, there are many expenses with a family of 9, so the loss of his income during this time has been a significant set back.
My purpose for creating this fundraiser is to offer some assistance to this little boy and his family, who have all been through so much in such a short amount of time.
At this point, they are paying out of pocket for some alternative types of treatment in hopes of finding something to save their son. All funds raised will assist the Millers with out of pocket medical costs, lost wages, transportation, and living expenses while Marion is still off work helping care for Jared. Any help is so greatly appreciated and will take some pressure off of this family, while they are spending what time they have left with their precious boy. THANK YOU, and God bless you.
