On March 11, 2025, Jared Lander was in an accident in Roatán while riding his motor scooter home from work. He was taken to the emergency room and treated for several injuries, diagnosed with a broken collarbone, and sent home. After waking up, his condition was much worse. Further testing determined the severity of the injury to his shoulder and immediate surgery was recommended. An orthopedic surgeon was flown in to repair and stabilize Jared’s collarbone, remove bone fragments, and improve his chances for recovery and normal function.
Jared is fortunate, and we are grateful to the local community and doctors for the treatment he received in Honduras. Unfortunately, Jared is facing loss of work and income, as his Arizona insurance will not cover care outside the United States. This fundraiser is to help pay for the cost of surgery, physical therapy, and financial support during treatment and recovery.
Jared is determined to get back to work ASAP. He is compassionate, a great son, brother, friend, and partner. Jared made a tough decision to trade a lifestyle in Arizona to work and live in Roatán. For the last year, he has studied and worked in local dive shops and for the cruise lines.
With this fundraiser, we hope to help Jared heal and recover the use of his shoulder. Any amount makes a difference, and we are enormously grateful in advance for your support!
From Jared: "Hi to all. On March 11, I had an accident on my motor scooter which damaged my body and could change my life. I’m anxious to get it behind me; however, recovery comes first, but not without a cost. Thank you with all my heart for your thoughts and support, kindness, and generosity."
