Jared and Luis Mendoza Fundraiser

Claudia and Luis Mendoza are leaders in their community in Edwards, Colorado and devoted members of St. Clare’s Catholic Church. They have four children ranging in age from 2 to 23.

 

Last week, Claudia’s youngest son Jared, who is two, experienced some sudden symptoms of hepatitis. When Jared was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Denver, she learned that his liver had failed and he would need an immediate liver transplant. The doctors still do not know what has caused this terrible situation—there is no obvious genetic factor.

 

On Monday May 30th, Claudia’s son Luis, age 23, will donate part of his liver to his younger brother. We hope that this liver transplant will enable Jared to recover to full health and live a long and vibrant life. He will stay in Denver near Children’s Hospital for a month before he returns home.

 

The Mendozas will be out of work for several months this summer in order to undergo and heal from these procedures. They have important bills to pay and rent to cover — and another young daughter Genesis, age 5, to care for.

 

Any financial assistance would be helpful to them, and a way to support a wonderful and faithful family during a difficult time.

Claudia y Luis Mendoza son líderes en su comunidad en Edwards, Colorado y miembros devotos de la Iglesia Católica de St. Clare. Tienen cuatro hijos de edades comprendidas entre los 2 y los 23 años.

 

La semana pasada, el hijo menor de Claudia, Jared, de dos años, experimentó algunos síntomas repentinos de hepatitis. Cuando Jared fue trasladado al Children's Hospital en Denver, se enteró de que su hígado había fallado y que necesitaría un trasplante de hígado de inmediato. Los médicos aún no saben qué ha causado esta terrible situación, no hay un factor genético evidente.

 

El lunes 30 de mayo, el hijo de Claudia, Luis, de 23 años, donará parte de su hígado a su hermano menor. Esperamos que este trasplante de hígado le permita a Jared recuperar su salud por completo y vivir una vida larga y vibrante. Se quedará en Denver cerca del Hospital de Niños durante un mes antes de regresar a casa.

 

Los Mendoza estarán sin trabajo durante varios meses este verano para poder someterse y curarse de estos procedimientos. Tienen facturas importantes que pagar y un alquiler que cubrir, y otra hija pequeña, Génesis, de 5 años, que cuidar.

 

Cualquier asistencia financiera sería útil para ellos y una forma de apoyar a una familia maravillosa y fiel durante un momento difícil.
