Help Jared with Aurora's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Aurora Borkealis Collins is a rescue Pomeranian-Husky mix who's been bringing light into the lives of everyone around her for five years. Aurora was surrendered at age 1, after her original owner passed away, and his elderly wife was unable to care for such a high-energy puppy.

She found the best dad a dog could ask for in Jared Collins. Nearly inseparable, these two have spent the last four years going on car rides, playing with her ball, going on walks, and attending the occasional hockey game. Jared found an ever-present partner in crime, and Aurora found her furr-ever home.

Now, Aurora and Jared need your help. In early May, Aurora began to have problems, culminating in her being diagnosed with a UTI and starting treatment, including antibiotics and more testing. On 5/21/2022, Aurora had an ultrasound and was diagnosed with Carcinoma on her bladder. On 5/23/2022, Aurora went in for surgery to remove the growth and obtain samples/further testing to determine the extent of the issues and what needs to be done going forward. The bill for this surgery ended up being almost twice what was originally quoted, which will put Jared in a difficult financial situation. After this procedure, Jared was told that there was no Carcinoma, and that the blood clots in her bladder had caused a false positive on the ultrasound. The rest of the week, Aurora was sluggish and had some accidents inside (unsurprising with the surgery) but overall seemed to act as expected after surgery.

On 5/27/2022, Aurora dropped an extremely large blood clot, and Aurora had to be taken to a Veterinary ER for further treatment. On the way to the ER, testing came back, and Aurora was diagnosed with Serratia, a bacterial infection that is resistant to some antibiotics. Aurora is now on the correct antibiotics and has begun to improve, but the process is slow, and she is showing signs of being anemic. She is currently on a liquid diet designed to help with the anemia, as well as occasionally eating dry food of her own accord. After a visit with a specialist, they have suggested she be left on an extended stay to receive blood transfusions.

We are asking for $3500 to cover the difference between the quoted surgery/testing bill and the final bill, plus to help cover any further testing, procedures, and medication that Aurora will require to have the healthiest, happiest life she can.
