Jaramillo Homestead Flooding

Hello family and friends, this is Adriana Flores. I am writing this on behalf of my brother, Luis Jaramillo, and sister-in-law, Staci. They live out in the country along the foothills with their 3 beautiful daughters, cats, dogs, and farm animals to complete their homestead.

Unfortunately, their home and property got flooded on March 10th, 2023 during one of these crazy storms CA has been hit with. Despite their home having a raised foundation, they got about 6 inches of flood water all throughout their home and about 12 inches of flood water in one of their daughters' room as it was a step-down room damaging many personal belongings. They also had about 3 feet deep of water in their detached garage and shed. Most of my brother's gas-powered equipment used to maintain his 3-acre property was ruined, in addition to his woodshop, he had in his garage which included lumber and many of his tools and equipment used for woodworking.

Unfortunately, they did not have flood insurance, and all their property loss, demo, restoration, and redoing of flooring and drywall costs are all going to be out of pocket. One of their damaged items was a refrigerator, and we all know they're not cheap. All of the floors in their home will need to be replaced.

The sad part about this story is that their water well had just gone dry in the fall of 2022 and they were hit with the large expense of digging a new well 3 months ago. They hate to ask for help, as we all do, but no one could really be prepared for the huge expenses that a flood would incur. We all really appreciate any help. My brother always tries to pay it forward. It'd be nice to help him and his family get back on their feet so he may continue his mission of serving his community and leaving people and things better than he found them.
