RAISING JAPHET’S DEAF UNI. FEES
Please help me to raise the college school fees for my deaf son, Japhet (18) who was born with mild Hydrocephalus and profound deafness. Due to this disability and the inadequate facilities to support his learning Needs, primary and secondary school education in Ireland was a huge challenge for him. However, since we enrolled him in a dedicated Secondary School for the deaf in the USA, Japhet has been making huge progress in his learning, sports, and arts. Through hard work and dedication, Japhet has become multi-talented and achieved the following in both Ireland and USA:
· Best Student of the Year 2009
· Best Player in the School Soccer Team 2012
· Taekwando Gold Medallist in All Ireland Open 2014
· Pool Runner Up in School Swimming Competition 2015
· Finalist in School Table Tennis Competition 2016
· Captain Sch. Football Team – Holy Family Sch. Through till 2019
· Defender - Team Northern Ireland Football Tournament 2017
· Performed in the Lapland Christmas School Choir Event 2018
· Performed in the RTE Cultural Night, Dublin 2018
· Most Improved Player of the Year Award in Johnstown FC 2018
· Professional Football Trials in Ireland and Leeds United FC, England 2017/18. Dropped as coaches do not yet have the facility to train deaf players.
· Top Pointer in Challenge Cup Competition 2018/19
· Current Member, Irish Football Club for the Deaf
· Scored highest and winning points for Michigan School for the Deaf in the Basket Ball Tournament against Kentucky School Team 2020
· Winner, International Virtual Arts Competition, USA 2020
· Currently teaching Sign Language and Dance on YouTube (Japhet Ogu) and TikTok (Japhet121) online platforms with huge Irish and International following.
Achieving the above results has come at a huge financial cost borne by my husband and I alone. In addition, we are raising Japhet’s younger siblings at various schools and trainings (Richard 16, Gideon 14, and David 11) and earn basic incomes as Health Care Assistants. As Japhet has completed his Leaving Certificate/12th Grade in Michigan, USA and gained admission to study Engineering at dedicated schools in the USA with adequate facilities for his learning (Gallaudet University, Washington D.C and RIT/NTID Rochester, USA), we now need to raise his school fees which amount to $53,000 per annum for 4 years. Please donate as much as you can to enable Japhet to attend either of these universities whose facilities and standard are not available in Ireland and the European Union. Also, there is no educational funding for special education from Ireland for studies outside the European Union.
