January for Justice (#J4J): MSFC NYC’s 2026 Annual Fundraiser
Benefiting the Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine (ACT) and Pregnancy Justice

This January, Medical Students for Choice New York City (MSFC NYC) is dedicating a full month to advancing reproductive justice—the right to bodily autonomy, to have or not have children, and to raise families in safe, supportive communities. Rooted in Black feminist thought, reproductive justice recognizes that protecting individual choice is not enough; we must dismantle the social, economic, and political barriers shaping people’s reproductive lives.

Across the country, pregnant people face criminalization, surveillance, forced birth, and restrictions on essential healthcare. Reproductive justice means fighting back—and supporting the organizations doing that work every day.

Who We’re Fundraising For
Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine (ACT) — MSFC NYC’s longtime ally
The Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine (ACT) expands telemedicine abortion access in all 50 states, providing clinicians with the legal and technical support needed for secure interstate care. Founded in 2023, ACT recognized early that telemedicine is essential to closing the abortion access gap in a post-Roe landscape. Today, one in four U.S. abortions occurs through telemedicine. ACT leads the push for expanded shield laws and ensures patients everywhere can access safe, affordable medication abortion care. Every $150 raised covers the cost of sending abortion pills to one patient.

Pregnancy Justice
Pregnancy Justice envisions a world where all people—regardless of pregnancy outcome—can make decisions about their own bodies and live with dignity, equity, and respect. The organization defends and advances the rights of pregnant people through criminal defense, policy and legal advocacy, research, and training for partners nationwide. At a time of rising pregnancy criminalization, Pregnancy Justice ensures no one is punished for their pregnancy outcomes—a cornerstone of reproductive justice.

Written by Lesley Lisa Greene and inspired by the landmark Turnaway Study led by Dr. Diana Greene Foster, The Turnaway Play brings the real voices of patients and researchers to the stage. The study followed 1,000 women for five years and found that abortion does not harm health or wellbeing—while being denied one leads to significantly worse financial, health, and family outcomes. Drawing from actual participants and research team members, the play uses drama, humor, and audience participation to bust myths, confront stigma, and entertain. Like this play, MSFC NYC’s goal is to amplify the lived experiences of patients and place their stories at the center of the reproductive justice movement.

Why This Fundraiser Matters
Reproductive justice means safeguarding patients, families, and communities in all 50 states. As of November 2025 , abortion is banned in 13 states, severely restricted in 10 more, and only permitted up to viability in 18. Laws that ignore medical and scientific evidence have blocked access to care, infringed on autonomy, delayed lifesaving treatment, and even cost pregnant people their lives. By supporting ACT and Pregnancy Justice, you are investing directly in freedom from criminalization, access to essential healthcare, and the ability for every person to shape their own future.
Join us this January as we work toward a world where reproductive justice is not an aspiration, but a lived reality.

In solidarity and collective action,
