Help a Hardworking Dad Send His Daughter to Cheer Camp

Hi, my name is James, and I’m a single dad doing everything I can to give my daughter, Janiyah, the life she deserves. I work two jobs—so my days and nights are spent in two restaurants I’m a chef in—just to keep up with the basics. It’s exhausting, but when I see Janiyah’s smile, it’s all worth it.

Janiyah is 12 years old and full of energy, heart, and spirit. She’s recently been invited to attend a week-long cheerleading camp this summer, and it’s a huge opportunity for her. She’s been working hard all year, staying after school for practice, keeping her grades up, and cheering her heart out. Her coach told me she has real potential—but we just can’t afford the camp fees right now.

The cost of the camp, plus the travel and gear, comes out to about $1,200. That may not seem like a lot, but for us, it’s more than I can manage on top of rent, food, and bills. I’ve picked up extra shifts, sold some old tools, and cut every corner I can, but I’m still short.

I’ve never been the type to ask for help, but this is for Janiyah. She lights up when she cheers. It gives her confidence, keeps her active, and makes her feel like she belongs. I don’t want her to miss out just because money is tight.
