Our mother was diagnosed with stage 3 metastatic lung cancer and stage 2 bilateral breast cancer in March last year. Even though she was in pain the day after her diagnosis, she continued through the last few days of her nursing career because she loved helping others. Following forced retirement from her practice, the disease rapidly progressed to stage 4 and worsened. Despite the numerous complications she has endured, including vasculitis and even stress cardiomyopathy from her cancer treatment, her attitude during treatment has remained incredibly positive. Her fight against cancer has been long and hard, and she wants to continue fighting it as long as she can.

As a nurse for over 40 years, Janine has shown kindness and compassion to thousands of patients and their families. She began her nursing career at Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Rockland County, New York. She worked at the hospital for over 30 years in various disciplines, including critical care, SICU, ER, Recovery and Pediatrics, and taught PALS/ACLS and CPR. She also worked at Good Samaritan hospital in Suffern County, and Westchester Medical Center in Westchester among others as a floating nurse. Every patient was treated with empathy, respect, and dignity, and she advocated for them as though they were her family members. She would come home from work crying about her patients and what they were going through. Throughout her life, she touched and saved so many lives and gave them the care they deserved. She also remained a faithful and active wife and mother, always participating in school activities after over 10 years of infertility. However, now she deserves the care she has given everyone else.

It is important to her that she continues to fight fearlessly through her cancer treatment for her three daughters and husband of 35 years as long as she is able to. Please donate whatever you can to help fulfill her wish to continue her fight. Our family appreciates anything you can give.
