Janielle Sheppard’s Accident Relief Fund

My niece, Naquia Sutton, and her family are raising funds on behalf of her 17-year-old daughter, Janielle Sheppard. On January 22, 2023, Janielle was in a terrible car accident while a passenger in her friend’s car in Carrollton TX. The driver only has liability insurance coverage which will not cover her hospital and other medical bills. We are asking for help with Janielle’s medical bills which have already started coming in – the first bills totaling more than $15,000 – as well as assistance with the ongoing travel costs for her father, Junies Sheppard, who lives in Baltimore. This will also help to alleviate any financial stress that has and may continue to arise due to this accident.

At the time of the accident Janielle was taken to the local hospital but, due to sustaining severe internal injuries and internal bleeding, had to be transported to the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas for emergency surgery. The police reported that during the transport she required CPR. The internal bleeding and intestinal damage were so severe that several sections of her intestines had to be removed. Janielle suffered multiple injuries and required several additional surgeries after she was stabilized. If not for her seatbelt she would not have survived this accident. After being hospitalized for 8 days, Janielle was released to the home of her grandparents, who are assisting with her care. Janielle’s mother is now on leave without pay during this time of physical and emotional recovery. We truly appreciate any contribution you can make to help our family.
