This is the kind of pain I thought I would be prepared for, but never imagined how terrible it could truly be.
Yesterday started with the scariest phone call I have ever received about my mom. She was being rushed to the hospital with multiple complications and unresponsive. This type of phone call is, unfortunately, something I have dealt with before. The fear, the panic, the tears, all of it. But something about yesterday was different. I knew I had to just keep it together because I knew there would come a time that I couldn’t anymore.
Last night, surrounded by my siblings, we said goodbye to our mom in the hospital. It was a mix of pneumonia, sepsis, an infection from a hip surgery, and Covid. She was comfortable and went in the most peaceful way. And even though we couldn’t be right next to her in those final moments, we were right there where she needed us. Where she could see us and know we were with her.
Below is our GoFundMe. As many of you know, my moms health complications have been a hard, very long road we’ve traveled. She fought the longest fight, until her body just couldn’t anymore. Anything helps us in this time we never thought would come this early.
We love you so much, Mom. ❤️
