Janice Trapp Radford's Cancer Recovery
Donation protected
Our dear friend Janice is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and her family could use our support over the coming months. She's been diagnosed with Triple-Positive Breast Cancer, a rather aggressive sort, and has a difficult treatment and recovery ahead. Your generous donations will go towards covering some of the additional living costs, for better treatment, and comfort during her cancer journey.
With three young kids at home and family at a distance (600km away), one of the big challenges has been making sure mom can make it to town in time for each round of chemotherapy. Janice's prescribed treatment is for 6 rounds of TCH chemotherapy, followed by surgery, and 11-14 more rounds of chemotherapy. These treatments are expected to extend through 2023 into 2024, accumulating multiple rounds of travel expenses.
One challenge with chemotherapy is waiting on the return of white blood cells in-between treatments to enable the next round of treatment to begin. Supplemental treatments are available at a cost to the patient that can help encourage the speedy return of white blood cells and shorten the overall duration of treatment. And once surgery and chemotherapy are behind her, Janice will need dental therapy and physiotherapy (which are not covered) to recover from the effects of the cancer treatments.
Most of us also know Janice's passion for DIY, and that if it were possible, she would set up a comfortable recovery space in her front room and the sunny front porch where she loves to spend time.
Raised funds will be spent on:
• Travel costs for mom to make the 600km trip
• Family Meals
• Therapies: to increase white blood cell count, others as required
• Post-chemo Recovery: Dentistry and Physiotherapy, cosmetics (chemotherapy sensitive), and Hair Wig
• Home Recovery Area – to reduce anxiety and stress, manage fatigue, and improve coping

In Janice's own words, "Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am finding this hard to say with all the words and the feelings that I’m feeling, and I’m trying to… sigh… I want to really say thank you... I already understand how I won’t make it through this without help. (What an absolute gut punch to admit that.)"
