Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you so much for visiting Janice’s GoFundMe page in this time of crisis. On June 27th she suffered a bad slip and fall at home, and suffered a blow to the head. The consequence of that fall have been devastating, and she was immediately hospitalized with a serious concussive brain injury. She is suffering from memory loss, severely impaired mobility, and basic cognitive function. The doctors are reporting improvements, but it’s two steps forward and one and a half steps back on the good days. It’s also endlessly maddening/frustrating/sad to not be able to go see her and her medical team due to the Covid-19 crisis and hospital restrictions. While we all are hoping hard for a full recovery, the doctors are warning us that this might take six months to a year and will require significant rehabilitation, in the best case scenario.
We all know this proud, fierce and funny woman would never want to ask for help, so we are asking for her. Our family is juggling her medical care and figuring out the upcoming physical and cognitive rehabilitation necessary, fighting the insurance company for the proper ongoing treatments as best we can but we are, frankly, a bit overwhelmed. The costs are rapidly starting to mount up. The medical bills and the needed rehab facility with 24 hour care have costs that fall outside of her insurance, not to mention the car payments, the utilities and the ongoing rent on her apartment. These are tough times for everyone in the small business world and we hope that you might consider sending along what you might have paid her for a cut and color, or two, or three. Every donation will be so appreciated and absolutely vital to pay for her recovery process and basic needs.
She so needs our love and support now. Messages of encouragement and photos are also greatly appreciated. If you know my mom, you know that she will try to make it up to you as soon as she can. Thank you, and please check back here for updates on her fight back to becoming 100% Janice again.
Thank you,
Raquel and Alex
