Hi everyone! My name is Janey, and if you don’t already know me, I have a number of chronic health issues. The three that affect my health the most are Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Fibromyalgia, and Lupus.
Because of these illnesses, for the past year I’ve essentially been bed-bound. We worked with my insurance to procure a manual wheelchair, but I’m finding it near impossible to push myself, and it’s so heavy that I can’t lift it in or out of the car myself, which limits my independence.
So what I’d like is a foldable/portable electric chair. Unfortunately, our insurance won’t work with us on the chair that would be the most functional for me; they will only use one brand of motorised chair that would not fit easily in our car. Because of this, I created this fundraiser in the hopes that some of my friends and family might be willing to donate.
This fund will be used not only for the chair I have in mind, but to make the outside of our house wheelchair accessible, and for a ramp for me to get the chair in and out of the car.
It pains me to ask for this kind of financial assistance, but right now my independence really does not exist. My husband, Richard, works 70 hour weeks most weeks to help us survive financially. On top of this, he has had to take many days off to help me get to doctor’s appointments, because I haven’t been able to push myself in the wheelchair that I have.
What your donation would help achieve:
1. I would have the ability to walk my own dog.
2. I would be able to make it to doctor’s appointments on my own.
3. I might actually be able to work to some degree, increasing my family’s financial independence and lowering the level of burden on my husband.
4. I would have a much higher level of independence in general.
