Janets fight to Live!
Donation protected

In late 2019 cancer was discovered in Janet’s skull and fluid around her brain and she started to have focal seizures. Janet stopped working, she could no longer home school her three young girls, and had to give up her driving license. Janet had radiation on her head and improved a bit, then more complications ensued when blood clots developed in her legs and one traveled to her heart causing a pulmonary embolism. The medicines she needed to survive this had risks and sadly that caused Janet a stroke. In April 2021, she deteriorated so much the Doctors placed Janet in a palliative care hospital with not much more they could do for her, but when she went back onto doses of vitamin supplements she slowly began to improve and came home after 8 weeks, possibly being one of the very few people to do so.
Janet has nearly died three times in the last 16 months.
She is a very strong person in her spirit and is determined to live; like every mother, she wants to see her three daughters grow up. She has a very strong faith in God and all of this has pulled her through these life-threatening incidents. Through all this, Janet has been strongly supported by her husband Jeremy who has had to maintain his full-time job as their sole source of income. Jeremy works for Grove Juice distributing products to shops, schools, and cafes.
How has all this left Janet?
Janet is paralyzed down her right side. She is in a wheelchair, she has very little vision in her right eye
and is now 90% dependent on people to care for her, thankful that she can at least feed herself. Janet is on three types of anti-seizure medication. Her children Emelia 13, Isabelle 12, and Breanna 10 bring Janet much joy, but it is distressing not to be able to care for them herself and a family outing is out of the question because she is not able to get into the family vehicle. The young girl’s hearts have sunk again and again as they witness what is happening to their mum.
What are Janet’s immediate needs?
• a wheelchair friendly house
• a wheelchair accessible vehicle
The Glanville family currently lives in a regular rented house that no longer meets their needs. It has steps front and back, narrow corridors, no access for sitting outside in the sunshine, and, most regrettably, a small bathroom with a shower recess that does not fit a wheelchair and a separate toilet which a wheelchair cannot access either. It is very difficult to care for Janet in this house, as you can imagine.
This GO FUND ME page has been created in the hope of raising at least $350-400,000 which would:
* Rent a suitable open plan home on a level block with wheelchair access in and out, with a good size bedroom for Janet’s hospital equipment and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, or maybe even pay for a bathroom renovation.
* Enable the family to purchase a suitable vehicle so the family can go on outings. During this lockdown, Janet has been locked inside her home, has no access to the community, and now feels that her heart is also locked down. Care workers only come on weekdays as Janet cannot be left home alone while Jeremy manages work. The 3 girls have not been free to get out, not even on weekends as Jeremy is Janet’s primary carer.
Ideally, the family needs to buy a suitable home, but unfortunately, Sydney is one of the world’s most expensive cities in which to live and the home needs to be conveniently located for both Jeremy’s work and the girls’ school. Added to this, Janet has needed organic vegetables and food and very expensive medications and supplements, costing in the hundreds each week, for over 10 years, making saving for a home of their own impossible. There is also the possibility that Jeremy may not always be able to work full time so this amount would cover these expenses for the foreseeable future.
Please give generously to Janet’s fund; she is in a desperate situation as far as her physical needs are concerned but is not giving up on herself and the hope to be fully well again. Janet would encourage every one of us not to give up in the situations in which we may find ourselves.
