A few months ago, my friend Janet Altamirano started to feel unwell. It was right around Mother's Day (which is celebrated in October, in Argentina) — a day she would celebrate for the first time as a mother herself, having just given birth to a beautiful baby girl, Martina, a few months prior.

In December, the doctors found a Krukenberg tumor, and Janet was diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer, which has spread to her ovaries and intestines. She is only 32 years old.

Janet is fighting every day to get better so she can see her 8-month-old daughter grow up, but she needs help: Janet and her husband can no longer cover the substantial costs of her chemotherapy.
