To those who have the pleasure of knowing Janelle,
I know many of you have heard that earlier this year, Janelle was diagnosed with breast cancer. While our family is familiar with this type of news, it's still acutely painful to grapple with this again. Over the last few months she has attended multiple appointments, undergone tests and surgery, read MyChart updates, dealt with uncertainty, and felt all the emotions that come with this type of horrible news.
It will not come as a surprise that she has also mothered her boys, Brayden, Ryan, and Landon, through their own grief, turned toward Kenneth and his steady strength, and continued to work at her beloved role at Stanwood High School. In every conversation we have, she is bravely processing what the next year will look like with grit, faith, and humour.
I'd love for her community to show up for her as she shows up for treatment, and I've set a fundraising goal of $10,000. These contributions will go toward gas as she makes her way up and down I-5 to Fred Hutch, dinners for the Owings family, joyful experiences when she's able, and other everyday expenses.
A heartfelt thank you for coming alongside Janelle and generously blessing her and her family.
With gratitude,
Her sister, Andrea
