I am starting a Go Fund Me page for my friend Janelle. The young single mother has lived with a major medical problem ever since she suffered a terrible bicycle accident a few years ago. The accident ripped open her right arm and the right side of her body leaving her with massive scars but that isn’t the problem she is dealing with.
The skin abrasions also allowed flesh-eating bacteria to enter her body. which left her with compartmental disease. The bacteria ate away the bones in her right knee and right arm rendering the arm incapable of performing basic functions. Janelle was able to have full knee replacement surgery.
For three years she has been undergoing almost daily visits to a Syracuse medical center and has not been able to work that entire time. For a while, she was able to live off the support of friends and family but her financial resources are running out. She and her seven-year-old daughter now have to move and food stamps are the only assistance she receives.
In order for Janelle to lead anything close to a normal life again, she will need to have one of the bones in her leg removed and inserted into the boneless right arm. In time, she should be able to regain partial, or we hope nearly all, functionality in that arm so that she can get back to work. Covering the cost of the surgery is the reason for this fund.

As her friend, I have agreed to teach her web design skills and basic business training so she can venture out on her own. But those things will take time and will need to be worked into her arduous schedule of doctors and tests. Her immune system has also been weakened as a result of MRSA. This past month she has been sick nearly every day and contracted pneumonia. She is getting better but the hard part is still ahead.
She is struggling but optimistic. Her life is centered around her beautiful daughter but she desperately needs to get her life back on track. With your generous support, she can reach her goal of getting the surgery she so vitally needs.
