Janel had a brain hemorrhage medical fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Janel, and I suffered from a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage on Oct 6, 2021, while riding my bike around Denver. [My brain broke!] I had to get rushed to a nearby hospital and then sent off to Lutheran Medical Center where I had to stay for 9 days to heal and rest. I have insurance, but Lutheran was not in my network. As most know, in the U.S. that means I should expect several bills after my stay. I'm incredibly grateful for the EMTs, nurses, doctors, friends, and family who took care of me physically, mentally, and spiritually. When I was sent home after my hospital stay I had trouble walking and had to use a cane and a walker. It took me roughly 2-3 weeks after that to not need assistance walking. I still have issues in my right thigh possibly from having a catheter in my leg twice when they put a substance in me that allowed them to see into my brain. I don't know what that means in the long run.
I had 11 bills, which is now 2 medical bills [THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED SO FAR!] all from different hospitals and services [anesthesiologist, neurologist, ambulance, etc] and I don't think that's the end of it. The current estimate totals around $81,000. I am very stubborn when it comes to asking for help, especially financially. I know I'm not the only one that would rather suffer in silence than burden people who may also be struggling. But here I am asking for help. Even the smallest amount would be helpful. Thank you for taking the time to read this far.
Small update: 6/20/22 - One of my bills was lowered to about half the amount...BUT I got two more bills that came in last month. [Does anyone else ever feel like just when they're getting ahead *something* pushes their progress 2 steps back? ] Either way, I've been making monthly payments so there is a small decrease in the amount still needed. my current bills are at $9,276 as of today. Still happy to be making progress even if it is in tiny increments.
