Update (9/30): Jane and Sinclair have unfortunately both passed away. Thank you so much to everyone who has either donated or sent words of encouragement. We are truly heartbroken at this time and appreciate you more than words could say
Update (9/3): Jane is now in need of life saving surgery. Any help is so appreciated ❤️
Most of you already know Kelly. but for those who don’t, she is the amazing human behind @iloverescue.
She first visited the Riverside shelter in 2015 and quickly realized the pups were in desperate need of getting seen. She began visiting the shelter on a regular basis to film the pups and share their videos in hopes of finding their forever person
This is when @iloverescue was started and she’s been advocating for animals ever since. So many lives have been saved because of her videos and she is also the reason so many of us were inspired to get involved with rescue
She’s never been one to post anything personal online. but this month BOTH of her pups became ill and the fees have become astronomical.
She has two chihuahuas (both 11.5 years) that are her entire life. Sinclair was rescued from Harbor shelter in 2013 and was only 6 months when she got him. Jane was adopted from Devore in 2014 and was only a year and a half.
Two weeks ago, Sinclair was diagnosed with chronic renal failure. He is thankfully responding well with his treatments and daily maintenance of SQ fluids and medications are able to slow down the disease
In 2015 Jane had rear limb paresis due to intravertebral disc disease. (It’s where her spine compresses and it pinches the nerves causing a neurological deficit) She gained use of her rear legs about a month later.
Due to having IVDD she is now incontinent. As of now, she has urinary bladder stones (likely caused from her recurring UTI) and one large stone in her gallbladder that requires surgical intervention.
Since this procedure can only be done by a specialist, the cost is enormous. In addition to the surgery, she will need to be there for 48 hours of monitoring.
Sinclair’s vet visits and treatments came to a little under $4k. and Jane’s surgery requires an upfront payment of $11,600 (in addition to hundreds spent at vet visits before this)
For the first time, Kelly, Sinclair and Jane really need our help.
