Jane Porter - Ashwell Parish Council, Retirement Gift

Dear fellow Ashwellian,

You will probably know that Jane officially retired at the end of September after 20+ years as Clerk of Ashwell Parish Council.

Throughout that time Jane was much more than the lay-person’s idea of a typical clerk – she was the very backbone of the Parish Council and its role in caring for Ashwell Village.

Jane became a font of knowledge on how the village worked, who was who, and who to go to when jobs needed doing. Jane worked far more hours than she was paid to, and was happy to give constructive advice to anyone who made contact with the Parish Council.

It is typical of Jane that she has volunteered to help the new Clerk (Sally) for as long as needed even though she has retired, such is her commitment to Ashwell and the Parish Council.

In recognition of Jane’s ‘above & beyond’ sense of duty we are inviting those who know Jane as Clerk to show their thanks:

1. Make a donation via ‘GoFundMe’ that will go towards buying Jane a gift that will forever remind her of her input to the Village.

2. And write a personal ‘retirement message’ that we will compile into a book of thanks to accompany the gift.
