Jane and I need your help!

It breaks my heart a little bit writing this, but Jane and I have been caught up in a scam and have had $4000 CAD stolen from our bank accounts.  As a lot of you know, we met a year and a half ago in Australia, fell crazy in love and have been travelling together since. We work in seasonal jobs and do working holiday visas so we never have a LOT of money, but enough to get by and be happy.  This summer we have been in Montreal where Jane has been working her little ass off making money for our upcoming return to New Zealand. However I was unable to find a job so when I got asked to walk someone's dog I was only too happy to do so. I spoke on the phone to the lady who used to work for Patrick Rusheleau him and she assured me he was a great man to work for and had a beautiful little dog called Luke. Patrick was working out of town a lot so needed me to run some errands for him. So Patrick Rusheleau sent me money ($2000 at a time) via cheque. This money cleared in our bank account straight away, so he asked me to buy $2200 Bitcoin, $1100 gift cards and $ 300 dog supplies for him.  Of course I trusted this whole thing at the time, willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt and off I went. The twist of the knife came a few days later when we looked at our bank account and the $4000 he sent has been retracted by the bank. The cheques never cleared. We are now $3600 overdrawn and there's nothing the banks can do. They are now demanding that money back. So now we've had all our money stolen from us and I feel sick to my stomach that this has happened and we have $3600 to pay back to the bank asap. My wonderful girlfriend Jane has worked so hard to be making money, and I have single handedly screwed things up.  We're meant to be returning to New Zealand next month so we can both work and be together, but need to raise the money to pay the bank back otherwise we'll have bankers after us (no thanks!). So please please please, anything you may have would be so appreciated. It still hasn't hit home what's happened, but be careful out there guys, don't let this shit happen to you!
