Jana and her wheelchair journey
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Emma Crosby. I am the daughter of Jana Mood. My mom is an incredibly strong and resilient individual, despite the challenges she faces with her health. Living with type 1 diabetes, autonomic neuropathy, brain vessel stenosis, and past strokes can be incredibly challenging, but she continues to persevere and live her life to the fullest. Her determination to overcome these obstacles is truly inspiring. The fact that she also underwent a cranial bypass surgery shows her bravery and willingness to do what it takes to improve her health and quality of life.
She had her surgery April of 2022. The hopes were the results would have her walking soon. When we were told it "would get worse before it got better" we were never expecting this bad. My mother cannot walk at all. She sits on the couch all day everyday unless someone is there willing to drop what they are doing to bring her places. Obviously, she has many people including her husband, Nick, who puts her above everything and helps her every way he can. Her best friend, and her neighbor Rebecca comes over all the time, takes her places, and is considered family. She has me and her two other sons who help as much as possible, and a lot of friends and family.
My mom loves to garden. She loves to take photos of every moment. She loves sitting in the sun and enjoying her time. She can't do any of these things on her own. It is unfair. My mom being her true self, she acts extremely brave but sometimes over does it. She try's to get up and walk which leads to an episode of hers. She will collapse to the floor, which ends in horrid bruising and sometimes worse.
It is unfair that in the snap of fingers she got everything taken from her, and she has to be codependent on everyone else.
This has made her mental health decrease tremendously. We all wish the best for the woman we love, and want to do what's right for her. Something we have looked into is an electric wheelchair. At least she can bring herself around the house, ride around outside, and even shop on her own. It might not seem like a lot to somebody who is not in her position, but to her this would be a huge and amazing change.
My mom is never one to ask for help, no matter how much we all try she still says "it's okay I can do it". Since she won't ask, I will be the one to do so. I ask that if you could share or donate in the hopes to raise money to get her an electric wheelchair. She would be extremely grateful and although it won't improve her physical health, it will improve her mental health which is just as important.
There are many reasons why people should consider donating to Jana's wheelchair and medical expenses:
1. Medical expenses can be overwhelming: Coping with a medical condition can be incredibly expensive. Even with insurance, medical bills can pile up quickly, leaving individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. Donating to Jana's medical expenses can help ease the financial burden on her and her family.
2. Wheelchairs can be costly: Wheelchairs and other mobility aids can be expensive, and insurance may not always cover the full cost. In this case, insurance doesn't cover an electric wheelchair. Donating to Jana's wheelchair fund can help ensure that she has the equipment she needs to live a fulfilling and independent life.
3. Donations can make a difference: Every donation, no matter how small, can make a difference in someone's life. By donating to Jana's medical expenses and wheelchair fund, you can help her live a better quality of life and improve her overall health and well-being.
4. Empathy and compassion: Donating to Jana's cause is a way to show empathy and compassion for someone in need. It's a way to demonstrate that we care about our fellow humans and want to help those who are struggling.
5. Paying it forward: Finally, donating to Jana's cause is a way to pay it forward. By helping her, you can inspire others to do the same and create a ripple effect of kindness and generosity that can benefit many people in need.
Lastly, I am moving in august to South Carolina for school. I don't want to leave my mother unhappy. It would mean the world to me to see her to have a little bit more freedom than she has now, and with me being gone I need her to be able to do the things we did together on her own.
Please consider donating or sharing to support my mother's cause. Thank you and I appreciate everyone for taking the time to look at this.
