Jan and his Galiano Island family had quite a shock when he suddenly developed pain in his belly. The pain was enough to need hospital admission. There was no warning time at all. Jan went from healthy to hospitalized with cancer in a blink of an eye. But, the doctors told Jan “we caught this very early so all will be ok. We’ll remove the small bit that’s there and you’ll be good as new.” No need to sew buttons onto the back of your hospital gown. Surgery revealed that more treatment would be needed.

This has already been a roller coaster for this close-knit, rural family. Coming up will be chemotherapy and doctors’ appointments in the city. Kristina will become the sole breadwinner and will often be the only available parent. She already has numerous jobs, often working two jobs back to back in a day. Her kids, dog, and cat all need her. The girls at home, Kory and Kloe, will need extra love and attention to deal with their father’s disease process, as will older sister Kapprice.

Expected extra expenses, the reason for this fundraising, will include necessary days off work for Kristina, travel expenses, accommodation expenses, special meals for Jan, childcare, and counselling, as well as many surprises. We send gratitude for any help.
