As you may know, we're spread apart across oceans and earth. It also just so happens that, for the first time any of us can recall, all three of Jan's kids are without steady income (we don't mean to brag). Additionally, we all drained our resources in efforts to be with Jan as much as we could over the summer. Without a small miracle, we don't know how we'll all be able to gather for Jan's funeral in Oslo and his Memorial at Bruchion in Los Angeles, two events that we all deeply long to attend in celebration of Jan's life and the communities he inspired. Distances are long, time is short, and costs are high (especially in Oslo). We need time to mourn this loss together as Jan's family; for hugs, stories, tears, toasts, and the community and support of those who loved him with us. We hope, with your help, to make this happen.
In addition to travel expenses, we are hoping to help offset the costs to Hanne and her parents for the funeral in Oslo, and to help fund the Los Angeles memorial.
This is a difficult thing to ask for amidst so many hardships in the world, and so close to home for Californians in particular. We will be humbled and grateful for anything our global friend-family might be moved and able to contribute. Regardless of monetary support, you have our sincere gratitude for your kind thoughts and condolences, and we're sorry for your loss as well. Our broken hearts are with you.
