Help JAMSA Support Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa
When one Jamaican hurts, all Jamaicans feel it.
The Jamaican American Student Association (JAMSA) at Florida A&M University, Florida State University, University of Florida, University of South Florida and University of Central Florida are coming together to uplift our island home after the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa. This powerful hurricane has left many communities across Jamaica struggling — with families displaced, homes destroyed, and essential resources like food, clean water, and electricity in short supply.
As proud Jamaicans and supporters of the diaspora, we believe in standing firm in unity and compassion. JAMSA’s mission has always been to celebrate Jamaican culture, foster community, and serve those in need — both here and back home. Now, our brothers and sisters in Jamaica need us more than ever.
Our Goal
We are raising funds to directly support reputable, on-the-ground organizations in Jamaica that are actively providing emergency relief, rebuilding assistance, and long-term recovery support. Every dollar will go toward trusted local partners working tirelessly to restore hope and stability in affected communities.
How the Funds Will Be Used
Your donations will help provide:
- Emergency supplies — food, clean water, hygiene kits, and medical aid.
- Shelter and repair assistance for displaced families.
- Community rebuilding efforts to restore schools, homes, and infrastructure.
Why We Care
At JAMSA, “Wi likkle but wi tallawah” isn’t just a saying — it’s a way of life. We may be miles away, but our hearts remain rooted in the island that raised us. We want to turn our love into action and give back in the most meaningful way possible.
Whether you are Jamaican, Caribbean, or simply someone who believes in the power of community, your support matters.

“One love, one heart, let’s get together and feel alright.”
— Bob Marley
