Hi, we are Nicole & Ronna, and we'd like to introduce you to our friend and fellow nurse Jami. She is not only a nurse, but also a single mother to 4 children. When Jami was pregnant with her fourth, she found out she had Hodgkin's lymphoma. They wanted to hold off treatment until after the pregnancy, but it was shown she would have to start treatment right away. She still worked through her whole pregnancy, doing treatments every other week, but on the hard days when she was unable to go, she had to miss out financially so she could rest and feel better physically for her babies. With this, bills got behind. Then when the baby was born, she had to go on short-term disability due to maternity leave not being available, for two months. Before returning to work after the baby, they thought the cancer would be gone; however, scans showed two more spots, so she had to continue with treatment. Only now, the chemo had to be more aggressive, which was even harder to deal with and came with many more side effects that affect her day-to-day life. Day-to-day living includes her children getting sick, due to it being that time of year, and with that comes more time away from work. Now we learn that Jami needs a stem cell transplant and will be in the hospital at the end of March for an entire month, which, you guessed it, means more time off. In this time she will not have any income. We know times are hard for everyone, but anything you can give would be greatly appreciated. Jami works day in & day out to ensure quality of life & health to her residents, to help maybe your friend or family. Now she needs us to help her.
