I write this today...In disbelief. I want so badly for this to be a horrible nightmare I'll soon wake up from. To phone my father and hear the sweet tone he always spoke to me in,to hear the loving nickname he's called me all my life,to see the face that helped make my own. I wish for this to be a mistake but tragically it's real...

My father, a man of immense spirit and life, has passed. The nature of his passing has left me with an immeasurable void.

Nobody deserves what my father endured,

And while i have been at a loss for words, and so much more without my daddy,

his memory is one that deserves honor and celebration.

In the midst of grieving i, his only daughter am faced with all the cold practicalities this new reality entails and it has added additional grief and stress during this already horrifically hard time.

In an effort to ease this burden I was advised to set up this GoFundMe to call upon the familly friends and community of the remarkable man, my father, Jamil Wilkes so we can give my father the celebration he truly deserves.

one filled with love, laughter, stories shared among friends and family; one that will help us remember him as he always was - full of life.

My father was a man who touched the lives of many, not only in his community here in San Francisco but truly spanning as far the east is to the west.

He was not only my dad, but a friend to all who knew him. His love and kindness were infectious, he loved deeply, he felt greatly, he laughed loudly, and he left an indelible mark on everyone he ever met.

I ask you today for your support - not just financially but emotionally as we navigate a life we could have never imagined.

As I grieve who I was before his passing,

and the plans we made.

My only plan now is to give my father what he does deserve wich is a spirit and body honored and a life and memory celebrated.

The list goes on and so will he in all of us.

My father once said I was his best foot forward, all that's good in him.

I'm so proud to have multiplied that x3.

His grandchildren were his pride and joy. I wish I got to tell him there was one more on the way but maybe now he's met them before me. Surprise.

Id also like to make a special and specific mention of my grandmother, my father's mother who I also know never thought she'd see this day. My father loved her very much, and dedicated his life to her care. Please keep her in your heart,on your mind and in your prayers as this is something a mother should never go through.
